We love long lazy afternoons poolside with friends and family that turn into impromptu evening gatherings. One of our favorite things to do is to enjoy the summer mood outside. There are a few staples that can easily turn your backyard into your favorite summer destination. Here are some of our go-tos.

Our founder, Jen, gains much of her inspiration for House of Porter from her vast travels. One of her favorite things to forage are beautiful, artisan-made hats. You can find many of these in-store, coming from various destinations around the world. A special hat is always at the top of our summer must-have list and these are great for both protecting from the sun and making a fashionable statement.
Standout Accessories
A very easy way to upgrade your outdoor space is by bringing in some trays and baskets. They add dimension and contrast, while creating an exotic look. We love these wicker trays and use them all the time to transport drinks, snacks and books outside. And baskets are great for holding towels and pool toys in an appealing container.
Tabletop Fun
When it comes to tableware, we’re big fans of mixing styles and materials. We love making lemonade in a cool, vintage pitcher and serving it in crisp juice glasses, or pairing mismatched plates with more modern glassware. The point is to experiment and have fun with it. Nothing should be too perfect—that’s what makes it special and unique.
